Ova donation

Ova donation it’s a procedure that arises from the impossibility or difficulty that some women has to produce their own gametes due to different motives such as:

 Precocious menopause
 Alterations of the feminine reproductive system.
 Patients with hereditary genetic diseases.
 Advanced age.
For these couples, ova donation it’s a mean that permits them to conceive a child witch, to all effects, it’s their own and lets them complete a family unit.

According to establishment of law 14/2006 about Assisted Reproductive Techniques, all gametes or embryos donation is anonymous and voluntary for both the donor and the recipient. Both parties will be informed in writing and the informed assents signed for every procedure will be attached in their records.

Selection of donors is done by strict forms. For their admission, donors must fulfill these requirements:

 Age: 18 to 35 years
 Having a genetic transfer is
 Normal karyotype
 Screening for Cystic Fibrosis and Fragile X Syndrome
 Normality of reproductive system
 Good physical and mental health
 Previous fertility history
 And / or adequate response to ovarian stimulation treatment
 Negative serologies for:
Hepatitis B and C
Syphilis
Chlamydia trachomatis
CMV
Toxoplasmosis
 Measles 
Although ova donation is voluntary and altruistic, law 14/2006 about Assisted Reproductive Techniques acknowledges an economical compensation to donors for troubles caused by treatment, displacements, etc.
